Thank you for your continued support during what is a really challenging times for us all. We have loved seeing your children during our online classes and we would like to say how brilliantly they have adjusted to the changes that the pandemic has caused at Acting Up.

Acting Up are following all Government guidelines as well as working closely with the CAA (Children’s Activities Association) to ensure that when we do reopen we will be doing so safely for our students, staff, families and wider community at Cardinal Hume. In preparation for a safe return in September the following implementations have been put in place.

-New risk assessment forms.
-Plans to stagger pick up and drop off times.
-Reduced class sizes.
-Avoid any gatherings at break times.
-60%-80% alcohol sanitizer in classroom and break tables.
-No use of props.
-Electronic communication only.
Before we reopen in September, we will have to pass an audit to ensure that all safety measures have been met.

Classes will commence on Saturday 5th September and parents will be emailed term dates, fees due and further details about our Christmas performances next month.

I would like to point out that when classes return in September the Acting Up team will be working really hard with the children to build back their confidence. Months without face to face contact with extended family, friends and schools have had a profound effect on children and young people and we are working really hard to plan ways in which we can further support our students to regain some of the confidence that they will have inevitably lost. This will mean that the first few weeks of term will simply focus on confidence building and having fun, without the added pressure of rehearsing for our Christmas production. The well being and confidence of our students is paramount.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate our students on another successful year of examinations. This year pupils undertook exams in Acting, Public Speaking & Verse & Prose and we had some fantastic results. Over 90% of pupils passed with Merits and Distinctions. A fantastic achievement! We aim for all LAMDA students to take their next exam in March 2021.

Congratulations to all those who attended and applied for auditions this year. We look forward to seeing Adam Drummond and Sophie Wright perform in The Sound of Music next Spring at The Tyne Theatre. Well done to all those who applied for BBC’s Secret Life of a 4 year old, ITV series -Mission Employable, CBBC Horrible Histories and recently Voice Over -The New Peppa Pig series. Fantastic opportunities and experience for you all. I would also like to congratulate former pupil Nick Warneford who attend Acting Up for 10 years and has this summer gained a place at London Drama School Italia Conti.

We wish you all a very safe, happy, healthy and restful summer holiday. We look forward to our students return in September with great anticipation!

Many Thanks for your continued support,

The Acting Up Team.
