Structured in a similar way to intermediate classes Seniors take musical theatre to the next level. Aiming to stretch and challenge the students in a professional and disciplined theatrical environment. This enables each student to build on their talents and gain confidence in performance. Pupils will participate in all aspects of dramatic techniques such as improvisation, character development, tableau, crosscutting, hot seating, forum theatre, emotional content and lots more!
Pupils are encouraged to maximise the potential of their voice, through various techniques that are studied, these will include, breathing and control exercises, use of diaphragm, pitch and tone. Various styles of music are studied, from classical through to pop with pupils experiencing both solo and group performance work. Various styles of dance are covered that include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Disco, Hip-Hop, Street Dance and Contemporary Lyrical. The main aim of the workshops is to give pupil’s greater control and physical awareness.
It is compulsory for all Senior children to take part in our regular theatre productions that take place every second term and unlike other schools in the region we do not charge for extra rehearsals. Class sizes are restricted to a maximum of 15 children per class so there’s plenty of scope for children to stretch their imagination and make new friends. Senior children attend for 3 hours and cover a lesson in each discipline. All pupils are required to attend in suitable clothing they can move in with a drink and light snack. Our school uniform is only required after your child’s 6 week settling in period, when you are happy your child has settled and Theatre School is something they wish to continue.
