| Theatre School Classes
Acting Up Early Stages classes are taught by accomplished theatre professionals and teachers who have extensive experience in teaching pre-school children. Our high ratio of teacher to pupils ensures that the quality and attention to each individual child is excellent.
The sessions include tuition in all elements of performance including drama, dance, singing and stage craft. The children work on specially selected songs and dances to build on their musicality, as well as their rhythm and co-ordination. Drama games are played in order to enhance confidence, poetry and storytelling is used to develop performance skills and vocal technique. The students really do learn ‘skills for life’ which are very important at this young and impressionable age. Syllabus content has been thoughtfully designed to engage the imagination and ensure that the emphasis in the learning process is on enjoyment.
Acting Up Juniors caters for 6 – 11 year olds. The classes include training in the major disciplines of; drama, dance and singing and by bringing these elements together, we are able to produce high quality pieces of musical theatre. The students experience what it is like to form part of a theatre company and there is a high emphasis on teamwork. Acting Up Juniors also take part in a full scale Theatre Production every 6 months. The children will also work closely with the older students from our Seniors group which helps to develop their performance skills and increases confidence.
Our qualified and experienced teaching staff recognise that all pupils are unique individuals and all learn in different ways, at different paces and to different levels. These factors are considered in our teaching, therefore we are able to achieve our main aim to, 'develop confidence and raise self - esteem in young people'
Acting Up Seniors caters for 12 – 18 years. Structured in a similar way to Juniors, Seniors takes musical theatre to the next level. Aiming to stretch and challenge the students in a professional and disciplined theatrical environment. This enables each student to build on their talents and gain confidence in performance. Pupils will participate in all aspects of dramatic techniques such as improvisation, character development, tableau, crosscutting, hot seating, forum theatre, emotional content and lots more!
Pupils are encouraged to maximise the potential of their voice, through various techniques that are studied, these will include, breathing and control exercises, use of diaphragm, pitch and tone. Various styles of music are studied, from classical through to pop with pupils experiencing both solo and group performance work.
Various styles of dance are covered that include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Disco and Contemporary Lyrical. The main aim of the workshops is to give pupil’s greater control and physical awareness. Acting Up Seniors perform in a full scale Theatre Production every 6 months. |
